Howard A. Minsky, C.P.A., J.D is a co-founder of both the accounting firm of Schooler, Weinstein, Minsky & Lester, P.C. and the law firm of Lester, Minsky & Berzak., P.C.

As a certified public accountant and attorney at law, Mr. Minsky not only brings a unique skill set to both practices, but is also in the best position to train the next generation, starting with his youngest son, Leigh, who has followed in his footsteps as both an accountant and attorney.

Aggressive and dynamic, Mr. Minsky began his career in New York City with Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co. in the audit department, later transferring to the tax department and eventually leaving for Goldstein, Golub, Kessler and Company to start the tax department with Stu Kessler. After successfully developing the tax department at Goldstein Golub, he succumbed to his entrepreneurial spirit and formed his own practice. Shortly thereafter, he joined fellow C.P.A.-Attorney Michael Lester and C.P.A. Marvin Weinstein as a partner in their developing accounting firm, which ultimately became Schooler, Weinstein, Minsky & Lester, P.C. Several years later he founded the law firm.

What began as a six-month trial on Long Island with his future partners became a long and distinguished career with significant expertise in a variety of fields, including medical, dental, architectural, engineering, manufacturing, restaurant, real estate and car wash industries among others.

He is innovative and aggressive, ready to provide sound solutions to and maximum protection from difficult tax and legal issues with the ability to represent clients across several disciplines simultaneously. He offers a broad range of accounting and legal services with a business tax orientation, including income tax and estate tax planning, pensions, wills, trusts, real estate, and all transactional work, including allocation and negotiation. He has also successfully acted as a mediator between partners and related parties, when necessary.

Mr. Minsky is listed in the Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities, the Who’s Who in American Law and the Who’s Who in the East. He is a member of Nassau County and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; the New York State Society of CPAs, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Long Island Tax Institute. He is a former director of a variety of arts organizations and currently holds a position with Physician’s Society and remains involved with a multitude of other charities.

Mr. Minsky was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1973 and thereafter to the U.S. Tax Court and U.S. District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. He graduated from City College of New York and received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting in 1967. He received the Certified Public Accountancy in 1971 and then graduated from Fordham University School of Law with a J.D. in 1972.
